Kenzo‘s Artistic director Nigo takes us on an otherworldly journey for the brand’s Pre-Fall 2024 campaign. Inspired by the intercultural essence of the season’s wardrobe, Nigo expands his creative horizons and transports us to a distant galaxy. The pre-collection, first presented at the Fall/Winter 2024 show in January, is imbued with sci-fi references that seamlessly blend into a lunar landscape reminiscent of the earthly waves of the sea. The captivating images and videos were captured by Lengua, a photographer from the Canary Islands whose work explores and challenges conventional notions of nature.

The Pre-Fall 2024 collection, and the main collection from which it is derived, is rooted in the idea of science fiction transposed to earthlings. As the campaign follows the rising sun across the globe, from west to east, it beautifully depicts the East-West dialog at the heart of Nigo’s creative vision. With subtle nods to man’s first steps on the moon, Kenzo’s new elegance emerges in the light and breeze of dawn. Here, our world collides with the galaxy, resulting in silhouettes and patterns that seamlessly blend terrestrial and futuristic elements.

Paying homage to the solar system, the pleated sundress takes center stage, accompanied by Kenzo Weave pattern inspired by Japanese hakeshi baten firefighter jackets, giving the collection a handcrafted spirit. The cargo pants and sequined metallic bodysuit evoke a space odyssey, echoed by a t-shirt emblazoned with a star logo. This celestial emblem is part of Kenzo‘s Constellation print series, which reinterprets the house’s iconography from the perspective of a human looking at the stars. Notable elements include the “Rue Vivienne” logo and the Boke flower, both of which have been given a stellar makeover. Finally, a “Kenzo Business” ideogram depicting five men carrying briefcases pays homage to the merchandising of Japanese electronic group YMO and offers an introductory glimpse into the main collection.
