This is the first time a South-korean celebrity has his own collection with the Italian maison. Creative director Alessandro Michele was inspired by the EXO and SuperM member’s love for teddy bears to create this range of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and accessories.
“The Kai Capsule Collection is a collection that embodies my favorite animal, a bear. Gucci is a luxury brand and it doesn’t give off the feeling that it’s something you wear typically in your everyday life. But with the cute bear, it seems much more casual. I think you can express your style more adorably because there are bears everywhere. People from varying age ranges can wear it in their everyday lives too”, said Kai to Esquire Magazine March 2021 issue.
Adorned with a muted palette of beige, blue, green and grey, the collection comprises a slew of snazzy ready-to-wear and accessories including iconic Rhyton sneaker, Ace sneaker, mini bag and beauty case. The collection is embellished with a vintage-looking teddy bear motif wearing a blue bow tie, the artist’s favorite animal.
Kai earned the nickname “Human Gucci” after constantly being photographed in Alessandro Michele’s designs for the Italian luxury house. His predilection for the brand was cemented in 2019 when he was named its global ambassador.
