Pierre Mahéo, the visionary designer behind Officine Générale, has once again drawn inspiration from the streets and spirit of Paris for his Spring/Summer 2025 collection. This season, Mahéo turned his discerning eye to the city’s art gallery scene, particularly the sophisticated yet easygoing style of those who work in and frequent these creative spaces.

Mahéo’s process is one of immersion and observation. Armed with a trusty notebook, he wanders the storied neighborhoods like Saint-Germain-des-Prés, jotting down the colors, textures, and attitudes that catch his eye. Back in his Montparnasse studio, these eclectic influences are distilled through the Officine Générale lens, resulting in collections that capture the essence of Parisian chic.

For Spring/Summer 2025, this translates to fluid, lightweight fabrics and relaxed, generous cuts that exude an air of unstudied elegance. Crisp linen and cotton-linen blend suits, workwear-inspired jackets, trim vests, and easy trousers form the foundation, rendered in a refined palette of marble white, sandy beige, olive, navy and black. Pops of satiny emerald green, an oblique nod to Alber Elbaz’s tenure at Lanvin, add an unexpected twist.

Figurative prints, from abstracted leopard spots to graphic black and white motifs, bring additional depth and interest, as do knit ties, polos, and fluid chevron patterns. The overall effect is one of subtle texture and visual intrigue, pieces designed to be effortlessly mixed and matched for real life.

As always with Officine Générale, the focus is on impeccable yet unfussy tailoring, best exemplified by the collection’s suits and jackets. Mahéo’s love for his craft shines through in thoughtful details – a raw-edged armhole here, an insouciantly flipped waistband there. These are clothes imbued with the kind of offhand polish that can only come from Paris.
